10 directions

Ten logo directions, each built to move: a mark, a lockup, an intro sting and an idle loop. Every one was critiqued, revised, then scored by a four-lens panel (brand, craft, motion, and an outside opinion from OpenAI Codex).

Scores are the mean of four judges, 1–5 per criterion; the total counts clarity twice (max 40). 02 scored highest (32.8) and 10 was chosen (32.0): 10 is the only mark that is not a typed "o1" in one colour, and its single flap performs the name itself. 02's liquid rule lives on in the system.

Two Shapes

The whole name is drawn with two shapes: circles and bars. The o is the designer's perfect circle; the 1 is a footed digit whose 42° flag points at the o's centre.

Motion. A pink seed splits into a circle and a bar; the bar stands up as an l, a construction line aims at the o, and the flag grows along it to make the 1. Then t, e, a, n assemble from their parts.

Loop. A bit flip: the o turns over like a flip-disc and the pink passes from the 1 to the 0 and back.

Baseline Flow

A rigid 1 stands in one liquid rule, joined by a meniscus. The rule runs under the o and on under tean to a drop: the developer's digit meets the designer's line.

Motion. The 1 lands in liquid; the liquid spreads both ways, and each letter rises as the front passes under it.

Loop. The rule draws back into the 1 and spreads again: a two-way liquid progress bar.

Cursor

The 1 sits under a block text cursor: a pink cell with the 1 cut out, the way a terminal draws the character under its cursor.

Motion. A thin caret types the o, then is promoted into the block cell that holds the 1; a fresh caret types tean.

Loop. The block cursor blinks, hard on and off, like a terminal at rest.

Pixel o1

The designer's pixel and the developer's bitmap are one cell: a solid block with o1 knocked out at 16 px, beside a pixel wordmark whose only pink is the 1's stepped flag.

Motion. A beam runs along the baseline and climbs row by row on a raster clock; an ordered dither settles the colour.

Loop. Inside the favicon tile, the knocked-out o becomes a progress ring.

Rendered in Characters

The o1 as the site's ASCII renderer draws it: monospace cells, one glyph and one tone each, lit from the top left.

Motion. A field of noise characters boots in, then one scanner pass resolves them into the mark and the name.

Loop. The light orbits the o in stepped positions, like an ASCII spinner.

Liquid o1

The o holds a drop: its counter is a teardrop leaning toward the precise 1. Liquid o, exact 1.

Motion. A drop falls, splits in a gooey pull and sets into precise type.

Loop. The drop hides in the o's wall and slips out again, in reading order.

Half Vector, Half Pixel

One o carries both disciplines: the right half is a true vector arc, the left half the same disc as a screen draws it, an aliased staircase.

Motion. A pen draws one half while a rasteriser types the other in ░▒▓ characters; they meet at 12 and 6 o'clock.

Loop. A scanner beam sweeps the ring, rasterising what it passes.

Glass over Code

The o is a liquid-glass lens resting on a line of code; one character is magnified and bent under it.

Motion. A page of code prints in, the lens slides across it and settles as the o, the rest evaporates, the 1 is typed.

Loop. The line of code drifts sideways under the glass.

Monoline + Anchors

o1tean drawn as monoline pen paths. The o is finished; the 1 is still selected, its flag tip the one pink anchor.

Motion. The pink anchor is the pen: it draws the name, snaps nodes to the grid and commits the path.

Loop. The selection moves to the o: an anchor travels its path with a short trail.

l ↔ 1

o1tean is oltean with one character switched. The switched character sits on a pink split-flap cell with the 1 knocked out; l and 1 share the stem and foot, so one flap changes only the flag.

Motion. The board writes oltean, then one flap falls: the top card changes, the bottom card never moves, and oltean becomes o1tean with a click.

Loop. The cell ticks 1 → l → 1, like a departure board at rest.
